- Prepare a checklist for your visit with all pertinent information, including persons in charge, participating students and adults, emergency contacts, details of departure and return, lunch arrangements, method of transportation, etc.
- Discuss the visit with students, staff members and parents. Pass out permission slips.
Guided School Visits
Sony Wonder Technology Lab’s guided school tour visits are educational, fun and FREE! Explore our unique interactive exhibits while a Technology Guide provides an insightful and engaging learning experience. This year’s tour theme is The Art and Science of Technology.
Guided school visits are offered from October through June for students in grades 3-10 or at equivalent learning levels. Tours last 2 hours and are offered during the following entry times: 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. One adult chaperone is required per 10 students. In order to provide a quality experience at Sony Wonder Technology Lab, guided tour groups may not exceed 35 guests (including teachers and chaperones).
Reserved Admission Tickets
Guided School Visits require a reservation. All reservation requests will be booked based upon availability.
- Reservations can only be booked a minimum of seven days and up to three months prior to your desired visitation day. We do not accept same day reservations.
- Reservations can be made Tuesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. EST by speaking with a Visitor Services Representative on our General Information Line at (212) 833-8100.
- If you need to request a reservation change (date, time, or group size), please call our General Information Line at least one week prior to your new desired date. Please note: All reservation changes will be made based upon availability. Once you have changed your reservation, you will be issued a new confirmation number.
- In order to expedite the reservation process and to assure your group quality access to the Lab, please complete our Group Reservation Worksheet prior to calling. Call early for best availability.
Please have the following information below available prior to calling (this information is also listed on the Group Reservation Worksheet):
- Dates you would like to visit SWTL
- Name of contact teacher and school
- Mailing Address
- Telephone and fax numbers
- Number of students visiting and accompanying chaperones
- Grade / learning level of students
Prepare Your Students

Sony Wonder Technology Lab’s group activities relate to New York City mandated standards in Applied Learning, Language Arts, and Science. On the Day of Your Visit
- Be sure to bring the confirmation number that you received from the Group Coordinator with you to the Lab. Upon arrival at the museum, please provide your confirmation number to pick up your ticket.
- Plan for unanticipated travel delays. Your timely arrival will ensure a smooth entry. Visitors that arrive after their reserved time has expired need to obtain new tickets for the next available date and time.
- Leave personal items at school or on the school bus. Storage for coats, lunches and other items is not available at the museum. Baggage, large parcels, scooters, skateboards and in-line skates are not permitted in the museum.
